Disability Inclusion Coordinator

The Disability Inclusion Profile is designed to help schools and families identify the strengths, needs, and educational adjustments schools can make for individual students.  The profile is part of the Department of Education Disability Inclusion reform that provides school funding to support adjustments to be implemented for students to access learning and achieve success.

Following a 10 week period of implementing adjustments, a meeting is organised and  attended by the parent/s or carer, the student’s teacher, the principal (or representative) and a facilitator from the Disability Inclusion Facilitator Service. At this meeting, the supports and adjustments that the student needs to be successful at school are discussed; student  strengths, interests and aspirations are also highlighted from a home and school perspective.  Student voice is also captured throughout these discussions.  The profile meeting goes through 31 different activities across 6 domains (as shown below). This allows us to discuss every aspect of the student’s school experience.

When is a Disability Inclusion Profile created?

At Croydon SDS, we generally undertake the Disability Inclusion Profile process when a student first enrols at school. There will then be a subsequent profile every 3-5 years throughout their schooling career.

We aim to make every Disability Inclusion Profile meeting as inclusive and enjoyable as possible. The meetings are very positive and highlight the best aspects of our students.
