Early Education Program

English

Our Early Education Program (EEP) is guided by the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF). Learning experiences are tailored to each student’s developmental stage with a focus on building emergent literacy skills such as speaking, listening and early engagement with print and symbols. Students are provided with opportunities to develop communication skills through structured routines, play-based learning, and meaningful interactions. The use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), such as visual supports and communication devices, supports students in their understanding of language, helping build vocabulary, comprehension, and social communication. Shared reading, songs, and interactive storytelling help students connect sounds, words, and images as well as build comprehension. Teachers scaffold learning by modelling early reading behaviours, such as following text, turning pages, and predicting what comes next. These early literacy experiences help students connect with others, explore their world, and develop pathways for future learning.

Mathematics

Our Early Education Program also focuses on building foundations in numeracy through play-based, hands-on experiences. Students explore mathematical concepts such as counting, patterns, measurement, and spatial awareness in meaningful and engaging ways.  Teachers use visual supports, structured routines, and concrete materials to ensure mathematics is accessible and engaging for all learners. Mathematics is also embedded across the curriculum, with opportunities to practise skills during everyday routines and activities.

Early Education Program

Cross curricular

Literacy and numeracy concepts are woven into daily routines and cross-curricular learning. Students explore counting and number through music and movement, clapping rhythms, and singing number songs. They investigate shape and pattern through painting, and construction. Spatial concepts are reinforced in physical education, while moving through obstacle courses or participating in movement games with peers. Students are provided with rich opportunities to practice receptive and expressive communication in all curriculum areas. Speaking and listening skills are developed through structured routines, play-based learning, and meaningful interactions that encourage turn-taking, joint attention, and understanding.
